Physical Therapy for Shoulder & Elbow Pain in Saratoga and Queensbury
Physical Therapy for Shoulder & Elbow Pain in Saratoga and Queensbury
Shoulder and elbow pain is commonly caused by repetitive movements or overuse, either from playing sports or performing everyday activities. In fact, something as seemingly mundane as working at a desk can lead to tendonitis and bursitis in the shoulders or elbows. Of course, acute injuries – such as shoulder and elbow sprains, strains, tears and dislocation – can also occur as the result of an accident or twisting in an unnatural way. Fortunately, physical therapy can treat both types of shoulder and elbow injuries.

Physical Therapy Treatments & Techniques
During your first visit, our physical therapist will talk with you about your shoulder or elbow pain, and assess your physical limitations, including checking your strength and range-of-motion and looking for any structural damage. We’ll also work with you to set functional, achievable goals for your treatment, and teach you specific shoulder and elbow exercises you can start performing at home.
Follow-up treatment sessions will typically include 5-10 minutes of a warm-up, followed by targeted stretching, strengthening and joint mobilization exercises for your shoulder or elbow. Depending on your condition, we may also use heat and cold modalities, hands-on manual therapy and massage, ultrasound therapy or electrical stimulation, and athletic or kinesiology taping, and suggest workplace ergonomics and activity modifications.
